CHESTER COUNTY INTERMEDIATE UNIT: School Closure

Closedddddd

Chester County Intermediate Unit issued the following announcement.

Dear CCLC Families and Staff,

This is a follow up to the communication you received yesterday, Sunday, November 15, 2020, regarding the CCIU Learning Center (CCLC) closing today, Monday, November 16, due to confirmed and presumed positive COVID-19 cases.

The Chester County Health Department (CCHD) has concluded its investigation regarding the reported cases. In collaboration with the CCHD, the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) will move to virtual instruction for students at the CCIU Learning Center through November 27, 2020. The CCLC will reopen for in-person instruction on Monday, November 30, 2020. For families that do not have access to technology, please reach out to Dr. Chamise Taylor at ChamiseT@cciu.org to obtain a device. All students and staff are being asked to voluntarily self-quarantine during this time.

Per the established protocol, we have completed deep cleanings and have sanitized all the affected areas, including using an electrostatic mist sprayer to disinfect. Please know that our protocols include regular cleaning of our facilities.

It is recommended that you observe yourself and your family members over the next few days for any of the common symptoms of COVID-19. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Please visit the CCHD website at https://www.chesco.org/224/Health for more information and contact your medical provider if you have concerns.

We understand that news such as this is alarming during the pandemic. Please know we are taking every precaution in the interest of staff and students' safety, as informed by the Chester County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. If you have any questions regarding your health, please contact your health care provider. If you have further questions about the safety and precautions that we are taking at the CCIU, please contact me. The Chester County Intermediate Unit considers our staff and students' health and well-being to be of the utmost importance. We are committed to providing timely and transparent information to the greatest extent possible to continue making informed decisions regarding your health.

Your support by wearing a mask, washing your hands frequently, social distancing and staying home when you do not feel well, among other precautionary steps, is critical to help mitigate risk for yourself and others.

Stay well.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chamise S. Taylor

CCLC Principal
