IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY: November 20, 2020 Letter from President Lettiere

Sign

Immaculata University issued the following announcement.

In light of the new guidelines issued on Tuesday, November 17th by the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Education, we are challenged, once again, to re-visit our current Return to Campus Health & Safety Plan and make some changes.  I am writing to share some updates regarding the remainder of our fall academic term.  Before doing so, I want to thank our students, faculty and staff for their continuous efforts in keeping our university community safe. We only have a few short weeks remaining, and we have managed very well through this semester.

In response to the new orders issued, below are the adjustments to the remainder of our fall semester:

  • Classes will be conducted remotely beginning on Monday, November 30, and will remain remote for the remainder of the fall semester. Residential students will have the option to return to campus and will get further detailed information from the Office of Residence Life & Housing.
  • The last day of on-campus and off-site classes for the fall semester will be on Tuesday, November 24. Internships, student teaching and practica may continue; program directors will work with students in accordance with the orders from the Secretary of Health and in conjunction with specific guidelines as indicated by the site.
  • University offices will close at the end of the day on Tuesday, November 24, and will re-open on Monday, November 30.
  • All on-campus, in-person, large gatherings have been cancelled for the remainder of the fall semester.
Our Return to Campus Health & Safety Plan remains in place and continues to be our guide as we work through the challenges this pandemic presents.  Even with these changes, our university will remain open and will provide important services such as housing, dining, and other necessary services for our students. With all offices remaining open, all employees are expected to report to work on-site, unless they have made prior arrangements for an accommodation with the Office of Human Resources.

Thank you for continuing to do your part in keeping our community safe.  Our plan is to return to campus with face-to-face instruction for the spring semester.  As stated many times before, these are unprecedented circumstances and it is difficult to know now what the circumstances will be in January.  Information, pertaining to the pandemic, is monitored and evaluated daily.

I wish you and your families a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
