Malvern Preparatory School issued the following announcement on July 19.
Malvern Prep is proud to announce the hiring of Paul Romanczuk as head coach of our basketball program. Coach Romanczuk has an outstanding history as a player and coach in the Philadelphia area and beyond.
“Malvern Prep has a proud tradition of success in Philadelphia area basketball. Coach Romanczuk has walked the walk with a proven track record of leadership and success. We are excited to bring Coach Romanczuk on board,” said Jim Stewart, Jr., Director of Athletics.
As a player, Coach Romanczuk was a four-year starter on the Men’s Basketball Team at the University of Pennsylvania. His accolades include First Team All-Ivy and Second Team All-Big Five (1998-1999); Second Team All-Ivy and Second Team All-Big Five (1997-1998). He scored over 1,000 points, grabbed over 600 rebounds, and was selected as captain for his senior season. He went on to play professionally in Spain for Club De Baloncesto Calpe Aguas De Calpe in 2000-2001.
As head coach of Archbishop Carroll from 2002-2018, he led their team to a PIAA State Title in 2009 and had runner-up finishes in 2013 & 2015. From 2008-2018, Coach Romanczuk led his team to 10 straight 20 win seasons and 10 straight appearances in the PIAA state playoffs. He was named Philadelphia Catholic League Coach of the Year in 2009, 2012, and 2016. He coached over 40 players who played collegiately and beyond including 20 Division 1 players, 5 professional players, and 1 current NBA player. His jersey was retired by Archbishop Carroll in January 2020.

The Malvern Prep campus and its community are second to none. I am excited to build upon the great athletic tradition and success that precedes me,” said Coach Romanczuk.
Coach Romanczuk is a Certified Public Accountant and resides in West Chester, PA with his wife, Kelly, and three children, Cooper, Collin, and Riley.
